AI Tools in Science fiction writing

AI tools have become central to many discussions about science fiction writing.

I think it’s an important topic to explore. While I have my concerns, I also believe these tools can advance the craft of writing in the genre. At the same time, they might lead to market saturation with AI-generated books of mediocre quality.

Interestingly, this concern isn’t new to the field, it’s a bit ironic given that AI is so relevant to the futuristic nature of science fiction.

I believe these AI tools are offered for free to allow extensive training. Once they become powerful enough, they’ll be partially withdrawn from the public scene and sold for various purposes across different industries, including writing. Right now, they benefit from the collective work of writers without any monetary or legal repercussions, stretching copyright laws to train these tools at our expense.

Although AI might seem like a threat to both writers and readers, I believe it can be harnessed to benefit creativity overall.

Am I being too optimistic? 🤔
