Writing in my new house

I have also been adopting a new strategy for my writing. I developed more confidence in myself, my ideas, what I write, and the way I write it. I trust that my stories are mine to tell. I also figured out a way to have a seasonal writing schedule, which is a different schedule every three months.

Do stories age with time?

Stories come with a precise time and date tag on them. Yes, they can be timeless, as they are creative products. They are like fashion in some way because we write them at a certain moment in our personal history and the history of the world around us. That anchor in time and space gives them a certain validity.

Last week, I was listening to Books and Authors podcast and one of the co-hostesses mentioned 1984 by George Orwell. She was saying that she didn’t like dystopias but that Orwell’s 1984 was read, back in the day, as a literary fiction, which is true. Although the term ‘dystopia’ was coined by John Stuart Mill in 1868, it became vastly used only in the past few decades.
